Student Safety
Bullying Prevention Policy
Every student deserves a safe, civil and healthy place to learn. Blooming Minds STEAM Academy does not tolerate bullying in any form, including cyber-bullying, and responds promptly to every report. Our policy follows Illinois law (105 ILCS 5/27-23.7) and explains how bullying is defined, how to report it, and how the school responds and supports the students and families involved.
Our Commitment
Safe, respectful and supported
The policy applies at school, during school programs and events, and to online behavior that disrupts learning. Bullying based on any actual or perceived characteristic is prohibited.
Prompt response
Parents or guardians of the students involved are notified within 24 hours, and the school aims to complete its investigation within ten school days.
Support for students
Responses focus on safety and growth, including counseling, social-emotional skill building and restorative measures.
Protection from retaliation
No one will face consequences for a good-faith report. Retaliation against anyone who reports bullying is itself treated as bullying.
Reporting Procedures
How to report bullying
Students, parents and staff are encouraged to report bullying right away to any school administrator, or directly to our bullying report manager, in person, by phone or in writing.
- Reports can be made verbally or in writing.
- Anonymous reports are accepted. Just tell us you wish to remain anonymous. Formal discipline cannot be based on an anonymous report alone.
- Families of all students involved will be contacted and given the chance to meet with the principal about the findings.
If a child is in immediate danger, call 911. Then contact the school as soon as possible.
